 Megan Kalmes is an award-winning children's author who lives in sunny southern Arizona with her husband and their three wonderful children. Writing children's books has been a lifelong dream, and she loves creating stories, coloring books, and creative resources that inspire imagination, encourage faith, and bring families together.

Her debut picture book, Slinky Dinky Doo and the Razzle Dazzle Sprinkles, was inspired by her family's beloved dachshund, Slinky. His sweet personality, endless energy, and playful antics brought joy to everyone around him and continue to inspire her work today.

When she's not writing, Megan enjoys homeschooling her children, reading together as a family, spending time in the Utah mountains, photographing all things beautiful and adorable, and running her small candle company. She also has a soft spot for miniature dachshunds, the color purple, and classic Disney movies.

Megan is a proud member of SCBWI, NAIWE, and Arizona Authors Association.

 Stories have always held a special place in my heart. In fact, my love of books started early! In second grade, I won first place for reading the most books in my class. As a reward, I got to go to dinner at Sizzler and see Aladdin with my teachers and the boy who won the boys' competition. I thought it was the coolest thing ever—and my love of reading has only grown since then!

Today, as a wife, homeschool mom, and lifelong book lover, I know how meaningful it can be to curl up with a good book and create memories together.

My goal is to create wholesome stories, coloring books, and creative resources that inspire imagination, encourage faith, spark laughter, and bring families closer together.

If one of my books makes a child smile, laugh, learn something new, or ask for "just one more story," then I've accomplished exactly what I set out to do.  

  There are so many exciting things on the horizon!

In addition to my award-winning debut picture book, Slinky Dinky Doo and the Razzle Dazzle Sprinkles, I'm currently working on new children's books, coloring books, and faith-filled resources for families.

Filled with warmth, encouragement, and love, You Are So BEAUTIFUL! is a heartwarming picture book that reminds children they are beautifully made, deeply loved, and wonderfully unique. Through sweet rhymes and heartwarming illustrations, a loving mother celebrates all the beautiful things that make her daughter special—from her bright eyes and cheerful smile to her kind heart and creative spirit.

Piggy Finds His Oink! is a heartwarming and humorous adventure about a little pig who grows tired of oinking and decides to try out sounds from roaring lions to gobbling turkeys. Will Piggy discover the perfect new sound? You'll have to read along to find out!

I'm also excited to expand the Snuggle Bug Press collection with wholesome coloring books and faith-filled activities designed to inspire creativity, learning, and family fun.

 Meet the Real Slinky!

Slinky was a real-life, adorable, and friendly dachshund who was our beloved pet—and first "child"—for 12 wonderful years. He was the inspiration behind the Slinky Dinky Doo book series and is greatly missed.

I was lucky enough to find Slinky in a small pet store in 2004, and he quickly won the hearts of everyone he met. Named after the lovable slinky dog from the Toy Story movies, Slinky was known by many nicknames, including Slinky Doodle, Weenie, Slinkster, Log Dog, Tiny, and of course, Slinky Dinky Doo. Oddly enough, he answered to them all!

His body was long and his little legs were short, but that didn't keep him from tootling all around town. Slinky adored our twins when they were babies, and I wanted his sweet personality, playful spirit, and endless love to live on through stories for my children and other families to enjoy.

I hope the Slinky Dinky Doo series brings your family as much joy as Slinky brought to ours.
